VALENTINE GREETING

Description

Rendered in fine chromolithographic detail, this charming Victorian Valentine depicts a whimsical scene of three cherubs nestled within and around a wooden birdhouse set in a flowering tree. Two cherubs are at the birdhouse level — one inside playing a trumpet/horn, and one sitting on the edge of the structure holding a saxophone — while a third cherub sits below in the tree playing a smaller horn instrument. A red heart hangs from the tree below the birdhouse, and another red heart is visible atop the birdhouse roof. A horseshoe is nailed to the front of the birdhouse. The card features a picturesque landscape vignette in the lower left corner, while the blue-green background provides a serene sky atmosphere. White blossoms surround the scene.
