Victorian Valentine Card with Two Children in Green Bonnets

Somewhere, two children were placed in matching mint-green outfits and wide-brimmed teal bonnets, positioned in front of an enormous gold heart, and instructed to jointly hold a garland of pink flowers that loops around them like a floral lasso of codependency. Their wide, glassy smiles radiate the specific energy of children who have been told to look delighted or else. The poem at the bottom — 'The flowers bud and bloom and twine, Like you, round this fond heart of mine' — is doing a LOT of emotional heavy lifting for what is ultimately just two suspiciously well-coordinated kids in green knickerbockers sharing a flower rope, and absolutely nobody asked for this level of commitment.
