Vintage Black Cat Halloween Greeting Card, Early 1900s

Perched on a brick wall against a hazy purple sky with what appears to be a rising moon, this black cat with enormous green eyes and a jaunty pink bow tie radiates the energy of a Victorian child who just discovered arson. The tail, ramrod vertical and slightly curved at the tip, is doing far more emotional heavy lifting than any tail should be legally allowed to do. 'Greetings for Hallowe'en' is scrawled in cursive across the top, as if the sender needed to clarify that yes, this is festive, and no, you should not be this unsettled by a cat in formal neckwear.
