Vintage Halloween Greeting Card with Couple & Jack-o'-Lantern

A porch scene presents two suspiciously well-dressed Edwardians — a man in a green hat and a woman in a red velvet cap with fur trim — huddled conspiratorially by a railing, and then you notice the leering jack-o'-lantern glowing from a window directly behind them, as if chaperoning their little rendezvous. The poem helpfully advises 'Don't go out alone or you'll get a fright,' which, given that these two are clearly sneaking around together at night with a pumpkin voyeur watching from the window, reads less like Halloween safety advice and more like a cover story. The jack-o'-lantern's classic carved grin has more emotional honesty than either of the humans below it, and frankly, the real fright here is whatever these two are up to on Halloween Night that requires a warning.
