Vintage Halloween Greeting Card with Pumpkin Boy and Black Cat

A boy has apparently decided that the correct place to sit is directly inside the mouth of a jack-o'-lantern, legs dangling out through the carved teeth like he's made himself comfortable in the world's most seasonal armchair—and somehow this made it onto a greeting card. Behind him, an anthropomorphic moon watches the whole arrangement with the detached approval of someone who has seen too much and feels nothing anymore. Below, a hissing black cat with glowing yellow eyes rounds out this masterpiece of Edwardian 'fun,' because apparently the only way early 20th century greeting card designers knew how to say 'Happy Halloween' was to depict a child enthusiastically voring himself into a gourd while cosmic entities bore witness.
