Vintage Halloween Greetings Card with Owl & Cypress Trees

Between the owl and its moonlit backdrop, there is an uncomfortable intimacy that shouldn't exist. Perched on a bare branch against a full yellow moon, this owl has rendered itself in warm orange-brown tones with what can only be described as fish-scale feather patterning — because apparently regular feathers weren't unsettling enough. The wide-set circular eyes and small yellow beak give it the energy of a middle manager who has seen things, while its slightly spread wings suggest it is either landing or about to deliver terrible news.
