October 31st Vintage Halloween Greeting Card with Thistle & Campfire

The decision to pair a thorny Scottish thistle with a roaring bonfire as the foundation for October 31st imagery makes no artistic sense whatsoever. The thistle — all aggressive spikes and a single blooming flower head — looms over the left side like nature's passive-aggressive centerpiece, while a genuinely robust little campfire blazes away on the right, its yellow-orange flames licking upward into a dramatic plume of white smoke. The date itself, rendered in what appears to be a mossy or leafy texture, is doing far too much work trying to tie these two completely unrelated objects into a coherent holiday greeting. Happy Halloween, here's a weed and some arson.
