Vintage Thanksgiving Greeting Card with Corn & Turkey, Early 1900s

A half-husked ear of corn sprawling across the entire composition with the confidence of something that absolutely did not ask for your opinion dominates this 1908 postcard, its silk tendrils fanning out like a bad hair day at a harvest festival. The kernels are rendered with a plump, glistening precision that is frankly unnecessary. Meanwhile, a fully fanned turkey has been relegated to a little medallion in the lower right corner — a circle of shame — as if the designer suddenly remembered what holiday this was with thirty seconds left on the clock. Catalog number SER.T.F.611, because apparently someone at the printing house wanted us to know exactly which fever dream to reorder.
