Vintage 1912 Thanksgiving Greeting Card with Turkey & Harvest Fruits

Between the turkey and the cornucopia above it, there's an implicit hierarchy that suggests the bird is being presented as evidence in a murder trial, with its swooping iridescent feathers and gloriously wattled red head framed inside the diamond like Exhibit A. The fan-shaped display of grapes, corn, squash, and sad little apples does its absolute best to distract from the fact that the main attraction is clearly already planning his escape. The whole composition is boxed in by a riot of hot pink, orange, blue, and green geometric borders that scream 'Arts and Crafts movement had a fever dream,' while the ornate red 'Thanksgiving Greetings' script at the bottom cheerfully announces your complicity in whatever is about to happen to this magnificent bird from Heymann's 1912 masterpiece.
