Vintage Christmas Silhouette Card: Children & Santa Red Brick House

What begins as a festive gift-delivery mission quickly devolves into something resembling a military supply operation: Santa Claus — a rotund, bearded figure with colorful polka dots on his coat and a massive latticed basket strapped to his back — leads the procession toward the red brick house, leaning heavily on a walking cane while dragging a sled loaded with a rocking horse behind him. Two small winged children march ahead of him carrying gifts, while a third figure peers through the glowing yellow window, presumably casing the joint. The whole scene is rendered in dramatic silhouette with cheerful holly trim along the bottom, which does absolutely nothing to explain the angel child labor or why Santa looks exhausted. The rocking horse on the sled stares into the void with the same dead-eyed energy as everyone else in this festive forced march.
