Vintage Christmas Die-Cut Ornament Card, Early 1900s Holiday Greeting

A burgundy ball literally shaped like a Christmas ornament was somehow deemed the most relatable holiday card format in mid-century America, because subtlety was apparently for communists. The deep burgundy die-cut — festooned with dainty white vine details above and below a gold satin banner screaming 'A Merry Christmas' in cursive — is accessorized with pine branches, two pine cones, and a holly-printed ribbon bow so aggressively wholesome it could make a nun feel inadequate. The whole ensemble is held together by what appears to be an actual piece of twine through the cap, because in those days, your greeting card doubled as a tree ornament, your furniture doubled as your fallout shelter, and nobody questioned any of it. 'Made in U.S.A.' is stamped right on the ornament's belly, a detail so proudly visible it suggests the card was also doing light propaganda work.
