Victorian Christmas Angels Card with Sleeping Child & Tree

A finger raised in warning, a drowsy blonde angel in white practically nodding off mid-ornament, and a pink-robed figure on the floor examining a gold medallion with the focused energy of someone appraising stolen goods—these three angels have gathered around a small, candle-laden Christmas tree in what can only be described as the most passive-aggressive celestial intervention ever committed to cardstock. Scattered on the floor around the kneeling angel are small round objects that may be ornaments or coins, which raises some theological questions nobody in 1890 thought to ask. The star blazing directly out of the tall angel's head like a celestial migraine ties the whole unhinged tableau together, and the cursive 'A Happy Christmas to you' at the bottom has the audacity to suggest this is a normal scene from which warmth and cheer should be derived.
