Victorian Christmas Card with Nativity Shepherds & Angels

A flock of luminous angels dive-bombing three shepherds who are clearly having very different reactions to the divine aerial assault — one is prostrate on the ground next to a small fire (relatable), one has thrown their hands up in either ecstasy or self-defense, and a third in a magnificent gold robe is just... standing there, mildly interested, like they've seen this before. The sheep, meanwhile, are completely unbothered, which honestly tracks. The whole scene is framed with a poem so earnestly wholesome it could make a cynic weep, which makes the barely-contained chaos of the illustration feel like a fever dream someone's grandmother commissioned on a dare.
