Text on Card
9046. "EASTER ON THE BOARDWALK"
Description
"A Springtime Promenade" โ this charming Edwardian-era Easter postcard captures a dapper baby chick strolling confidently down a rustic wooden boardwalk ramp, twirling a delicate white lace parasol and sporting a fashionable pink bonnet. The whimsical scene is set against a barnyard backdrop complete with a weathered wooden fence, brick foundation, and a small arched chicken door, suggesting the chick has just emerged for its seasonal stroll. Scattered beside the boardwalk are a small barrel and a tin pan, adding charming rustic detail to the composition. The muted, earthy palette of grays and browns contrasts beautifully with the bright canary yellow of the anthropomorphized chick, drawing the eye immediately to the card's delightful subject. The soft, cloudy sky hints at the gentle warmth of early spring. Published by Reinthal & Newman of New York, this card is a wonderful example of the whimsical anthropomorphic Easter imagery so popular in the early 20th century, when dressed animals and humanized chicks were a beloved holiday motif.
