Vintage Thanksgiving Greeting Card with Turkey & Farm

The turkey — a magnificently painted specimen of iridescent dark plumage and aggressively red wattle — struts in the foreground with the confidence of a bird who absolutely does not know what holiday this is, posed beside a cheerful pastoral farm scene featuring a yellow barn and smaller red outbuilding, completely unbothered by the cognitive dissonance of being the card's star attraction AND its implied entrée. A squirrel nibbling something in the upper-right corner of the autumn leaf border is the only creature here with a future. Artist T. Veenfliet (yes, that's the actual signature) rendered this turkey with such loving anatomical detail and dramatic scale that the 'Happy Thanksgiving' greeting below reads less like a warm wish and more like a ransom note written by the turkey himself.
