'LEST WE FORGET' proclaims the poem solemnly, summoning the energy of a war memorial rather than, say, a holiday card your aunt sends with a five-dollar bill inside — yet the image itself shows a pilgrim-hatted young hunter strutting out of an autumnal forest like she owns the place, hauling an enormous dead turkey over a wooden fence while radiating the unnerving calm of someone who has absolutely done this before. The grapevine border running down the left side is doing its absolute best to class up a scene that is, at its core, just a child proudly displaying a corpse.
