Vintage Thanksgiving Greeting Card with White Turkey & Puritans

The bright red wattle and neck of this large white turkey — frankly the only color on this creature — gives it the look of something that just finished screaming at a manager, and it dominates this postcard with the energy of a divorced real estate agent who just got a gym membership, planting its red-clawed feet beside a pumpkin and some yellow flowers with daring certainty that you'll look nowhere else. Meanwhile, tucked inside the ornate golden 'G' of 'Greetings,' a tiny historical vignette labeled 'Landing of the Puritans, Dec. 22, 1620' depicts pilgrims arriving by ship, apparently unaware that their entire legacy would eventually be upstaged on greeting cards by this preening, self-satisfied bird. The design choice to make the turkey roughly forty times larger than the founding moment of colonial America is either a bold artistic statement or the most unintentional historical commentary ever embossed on cardstock.
