Victorian Christmas Holly Bell Greeting Card with Purple Ribbon

There's an unmistakable sense of decorative panic radiating from this card: a silver bell, festooned with aggressive holly sprigs and their little red berries, hangs from a purple ribbon bow like it's auditioning for the role of 'Christmas.' The holly doesn't so much frame the bell as *attack* it, cascading down and scattering across the lower half of the card in what can only be described as decorative anxiety. Someone looked at this composition and thought, 'not enough holly' — and then added more holly — and then, apparently drunk on holiday spirit, scattered a few bonus sprigs in the bottom right corner just in case the viewer hadn't gotten the message. The bell itself features an engraved band around its middle, because even in the Victorian era, a plain bell was considered too on-the-nose.
