Vintage Easter Greeting Card Chick on Egg Victorian Design

A freshly-hatched chick standing triumphantly ON TOP of an intact egg is where the cheerfulness stops. The setup — asking 'Is anybody inside?' — is either a threat or a wellness check, and neither is appropriate for a holiday card. The fluffy golden chick, perched like a tiny conqueror surveying a conquered nation, gazes downward with an expression that can only be described as smug indifference toward whatever poor soul is still inside.
