Victorian Halloween Wish Card with Grinning Jack-o'-Lantern

'A Halloween Wish' reads the embossed caption on this otherwise tasteful grey card, yet the visual inside tells a far different story. Whoever designed this card looked at a grinning anthropomorphic automobile with glowing red eyes and a face full of teeth, decided to cram it with a witch, a jack-o'-lantern passenger, and a grasshopper clinging to the side while a bat swoops overhead, and thought 'yes, this says *warm holiday wishes.*' The car — which IS the monster, lest you think the pumpkin riding shotgun is the problem — leers at the viewer with the unhinged enthusiasm of something that has never known fear because it IS fear. The gilt floral border and delicate embossing seem almost insulting in their attempt to offset the vehicular nightmare scene within. Spoiler: they cannot.
