Like a Victorian Instagram post gone wrong, this pastoral England scene features a mother hen lounging in the grass like she's recovering from brunch while her fluffy yellow chicks mill about in various states of existential confusion — one boldly faces the viewer, one appears to be doing a little kick, and one seems to have simply given up and is staring at the ground. The hen, notably, is wearing what can only be described as a tiny red cap, because apparently the Edwardian greeting card industry decided barnyard realism was for cowards.
