Vintage Easter Greeting Card with Bells and Forget-Me-Nots, Edwardian

A pair of enormous bronze bells hovers ominously over a serene sailboat scene—because when you think 'He is Risen,' you naturally think oppressive metalware looming over a peaceful lake framed by lush trees, since apparently someone in 1910 looked at that landscape and thought it needed exactly this. The real star of this Easter card, however, is the absolute avalanche of blue forget-me-nots surging up from the bottom of the frame like a floral flood threatening to swallow the boat whole. The Art Nouveau-style gold border with its little radiating sunburst corners tries heroically to class up this conceptual fever dream, while a tiny scatter of stars on the grey background whispers, 'We too have no idea what's happening here.'
